Who are we?
UMANA is a biomedical company founded in 2006, with strong human and technological capabilities in the fields of engineering and health.
Our activity is focused on biomechanics, combining the creation of new knowledge and technologies to offer exclusive services in the areas of health, sports, ergonomics, and design.
Our goal is to protect, restore, and improve human mobility so that people can continue achieving their goals with a better quality of life.
scientific basis
Since our founding in 2006, we have generated scientific knowledge year after year, participating in dozens of basic and applied research projects at a European level.
We have established ourselves as a collaborating partner with leading Technology Centers (NOVEX, AITEX, CETMAR, and CTAG, for example) and multinational companies that rely on us to develop their most ambitious research projects.
In addition, we have always made an effort to share our advancements through conferences, technology forums, scientific events, and technical publications.

Today
We continue to lead biomechanical innovation from Vigo, researching new technological applications and expanding our services to further improve people’s quality of life and enhance everything we are capable of.
2022
We’ve taken our expertise beyond clinical practice and sports. We launched the “Human Design” division, applying biomechanical principles to ergonomics, product design, and injury prevention in the workplace. UMANA is establishing itself not only as a diagnostic center but also as a comprehensive consultant in innovation for human well-being.
2020
After a decade of providing technological services and design support to footwear manufacturers, we are responding to their growing demands by creating UMANA Footwear Lab. This new laboratory strengthens our presence in the sector and represents a paradigm shift in the biomechanical validation of footwear, applying innovative comfort and minimalism assessment protocols presented at the National Podiatry Congress as the foundation of our uXhoes technology.
2018

2016
With the development of uRun and uBike technologies, we have completed a 10-year R&D cycle dedicated to the biomechanical analysis of cyclical sports (cycling and running). As a result, we have created a new, specialized sports center with cutting-edge technologies, offering athletes throughout Spain the opportunity to explore new horizons in their training and injury prevention.
2014
The result of years of research and development (R&D), UMANA is launching a pioneering technology for the biomechanical analysis of the spine (uXpine). This system allows us to obtain unprecedentedly precise data on spinal mobility and stability, marking a turning point in the diagnosis of spinal pain.
2012
We launched the first non-invasive biomechanical analysis technology for workstations (uMitiga). The simplicity of the ergonomics and the precision of the engineering have sparked interest from key strategic production sectors in Galicia. The impact of the results extends to occupational safety and health institutions in northern Spain, which are applying the new method with UMANA in various sectoral projects.
2009
UMANA inaugurates its biomechanical analysis center, a state-of-the-art facility equipped with its most advanced technology (uXplore). This milestone consolidates our presence in Galicia, making us the benchmark for athletes, patients, and professionals in the legal and healthcare sectors seeking precise assessments of functional capacity.
2006
UMANA was founded in Vigo with a clear objective: to revolutionize the assessment of human movement. A pioneering project was born in Galicia, aimed at merging precision engineering with health sciences to offer objective and quantifiable answers to injuries and pathologies.
Driven by the idea of breaking away from the man-machine stereotype, we began our research journey in the field of biomechanical engineering. Precisely because we are not machines, society needs a more human-centered engineering approach—one that values our true nature and uses technology as support, not as a replacement.
After 25 years dedicated exclusively to the UMANA project, and with more than 50 R&D projects behind us, we have gained enough knowledge to understand that there is still much to learn every day. This continuous curiosity has been the driving force behind our company for over 20 years, pushing us to improve and grow.
What sets UMANA apart is a unique way of understanding biomechanics as a science: a fusion of technical and medical knowledge, with the precision of engineering acting as the unifying element.
